Over the last few months, we have focused on updating our website with relevant information and have started organizing a number of formal events. The result of the first is that the ‘conferences’ and ‘training & education’ pages on our website have been updated again, while the latter resulted in the Day for Young Historical Demographers as part of the 10th Conference for Young Demographers in Prague (6-8
February). More information can be found here. It is already clear that it will be a great event featuring renowned historical demographers like George Alter, Michel Oris and Vlad Popovici, each of whom will be giving lectures and workshops. All of this was made possible thanks to the LONGPOP-INT project, the European Society for Historical Demography and the Young Demographers. Along with this formal event, we are also organizing an informal event during the European Society for Historical Demography Conference. More information will follow in our next newsletter.
The time has come for us to say goodbye to our vice-president Benjamin Matuzak and PR-Officer (social media) Stephanie Thiehoff who are leaving the board. Both were responsible for the official launch of the AYHD and have done considerable work ever since to strengthen our platform and improve the spread of relevant information to young historical demographers. Moreover, their positivity and enthusiasm will be greatly missed. Luckily, we have found a new vice-president, Ryohei Mogi. He brings with him great ideas for CV building, tips and tricks about choosing the right journal for publishing your research, and how to deal with coauthorship as a junior researcher. Expect more on these topics soon and you can read more about Ryohei at the end of our newsletter.
